Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the darts; stitch the side and shoulder seams.
  2. Turn up the hem allowance of the blouse and topstitch.
  3. Stitch the Collar pieces right sides together along the outer edge, turn right side out and press.
  4. Topstitch the collar along the outer edge and, holding the open edges together, baste it into the neckline of the blouse.
  5. Fold the cut-on front facings to the right side and stitch them to the neckline, catching the collar; without breaking the stitching, sew the collar into the back neckline.
  6. Clip the seam allowances on the fronts several times at the curves.
  7. Turn the facings to the wrong side.
  8. Trim the seam allowances of the back neckline seam close to the stitching, overlock them together and press downwards.
  9. Stitch the facings to the hem and to the shoulder seam allowances.
  10. Topstitch along the front edges and along the upper edges of the fronts up to the collar seam.
  11. Sleeves and cuffs: cut the sleeve opening on each Sleeve and spread it into a straight line.
  12. Place the Sleeve and the bias strip right sides together and stitch to one long edge of the strip as close as possible to the edge of the opening, especially at the center point (top end of the opening).
  13. Press the bias strip over the seam allowances, turn under its raw edge and stitch it down over the first seam.
  14. On the wrong side of the Sleeve, stitch the two halves of the binding together diagonally at the top end of the opening.
  15. Fold the binding on the front edge of the opening to the wrong side and baste it to the lower edge of the Sleeve.
  16. Stitch the sleeve seam.
  17. Lay and baste the pleats at the lower edge of the Sleeve.
  18. Stitch the outer half of the Cuff to the lower edge of the Sleeve, fold the inner half up (right sides together) and stitch the ends.
  19. Turn the Cuff right side out, turn under the inner half and stitch it over the cuff attachment seam.
  20. Topstitch the Cuff.
  21. Set in the Sleeves, easing the sleeve caps.
  22. Make buttonholes on the right front as marked and one buttonhole on each Cuff.
  23. Sew on the buttons.
