When To Wear

  • Tucked into a full skirt for an evening party, as in the illustration.
  • Under a jacket or cardigan, or with trousers for daytime.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Close-fitting, shaped only by princess seams: a centre front and two side fronts, a middle back and two side backs.

Neckline: Sweetheart. The neckline allowance is overlocked, turned to the wrong side and topstitched with a twin needle 1 cm from the edge.

Sleeves: Long, set-in, eased at the cap, hemmed at the wrist.

Front: No opening or fastening; the top pulls on over the head.

Back: Princess seams, no centre back seam.

Finishing: Princess seam allowances pressed towards the centre; sleeves and lower edge hemmed.

Level Of Difficulty

Beginner. Five pieces, princess seams, set-in sleeves and a twin-needle neckline finish. The only demand is handling stretch fabric.
