Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim SEAM ALLOWANCES to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Reinforce the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL neckline FACINGs and the waistband with FUSIBLE INTERFACING.
  2. Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL. Serge the SEAM ALLOWANCES and press them towards the BACK PANEL.
  3. Stitch the neckline FACING pieces into a loop. Serge and press the SEAM ALLOWANCES, serge the outer edge. Place the FACING on the garment with right sides together and stitch the neckline edge. Press the SEAM ALLOWANCES, clip curves, turn the FACING to the wrong side and topstitch onto the blouson 1 cm from the serged edge.
  4. Serge the SEAM ALLOWANCES of the blouson's bottom edges and SLEEVEs, fold them to the wrong side and topstitch.
  5. Fold the waistband piece in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch along the long side and one short side. Turn the waistband right side out, fold the unstitched SEAM ALLOWANCES inwards, and topstitch 0.1 cm from the edge around the perimeter of the waistband.
  6. Cut four 4x8 cm rectangles from the main fabric. Reinforce them with FUSIBLE INTERFACING, serge around the perimeter. Place them right side down on the slit markings and stitch along the markings. Cut the fabric between the stitches as you would for a welt pocket. Make diagonal cuts 1 - 1.5 cm from the short sides. Turn the FACING to the wrong side through the resulting opening, straighten the edges. Topstitch along the edge of the opening to secure it.
