Pattern #4728
Tech. Description

Fabric & Materials

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: quilted raincoat fabric with synthetic padding. ALSO NEEDED: lining fabric, 2 carabiners 3 cm wide, 2 adjustable buckles 3 cm wide, elastic 3 cm wide, elastic 0.7 cm wide, 1 zipper.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: Hem allowance for main fabric pieces – 5 cm, hem allowance for lining – 3 cm, other seams – 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Front half - 2 pieces
    • Back half - 2 pieces
    • Strap - 2 pieces
  • From lining:
    • Front half – 2 pieces
    • Back half – 2 pieces
    • Grainline piece for elastic – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fold the front half pieces and stitch the center seam from the mark to the inseam. Snip the seam allowance near the mark. Insert the zipper.
  2. Fold the back half pieces and stitch the center seam. Topstitch the seam onto the left half 0.1 - 0.2 cm from the seam.
  3. Stitch the side and inseams. Topstitch the side seams onto the back half.
  4. From the wrong side, topstitch the grainline piece according to the markings. Thread the elastic through and secure with a transverse stitch.
  5. Fold the strap in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch. Turn the strap right side out and straighten. Thread through the carabiner and attach to the upper edge of the front half according to the markings.
  6. Attach the 3 cm wide elastic to the upper edge of the back half according to the markings. Thread the free end of the elastic through the adjustable buckle, then through the carabiner, and again through the buckle, and secure.
  7. Stitch the lining similarly to the main fabric pieces.
  8. Place the main fabric pieces and lining right sides together, folding the straps inwards. Stop 5 mm before the zipper edges, fold back the lining and pin it to the upper edge of the jumpsuit. On the right side of the jumpsuit, fold back the allowances along the zipper and pin them to the upper edge over the lining. Stitch the upper edges. Fold the allowances along the zipper to the wrong side. Attach the lining to the zipper tape. Turn the jumpsuit right side out and straighten. Topstitch 0.8 cm along the upper edge of the jumpsuit and along the zipper.
  9. Turn the jumpsuit right side out. Thread the lining into the main fabric legs. On the main fabric pieces, press the hem allowance. Fold back the hem allowance. Align the lower edge of the lining with the fold line from the inside. The lining should be between the main piece and the hem allowance. On the main fabric pieces, turn the hem allowance edge 1.5 cm inwards and topstitch through from the wrong side. The main fabric hem allowance is 5 cm, of which 3.5 cm is the visible hem, and 1.5 cm is turned inwards.
