Introducing a contemporary women's coat pattern in soft double-face fabric, featuring a relaxed, oversized silhouette, exposed seams, and a distinctive asymmetrical front hem.
This versatile coat offers a stylish and comfortable layering option, perfect for:
Fabric: Designed for soft, thin, non-fraying double-face (reversible) coating fabrics, which make the raw-edge finish and exposed seams possible.
Silhouette: An oversized, relaxed-fit coat with a dropped shoulder line, offering a modern, comfortable shape.
Collar & Lapel: Features a wide, rounded shawl collar cut in one with the fronts and joined at the center back, creating a soft, elegant neckline.
Closure: a distinctive off-center, single-breasted button closure secured with two buttons.
Sleeves: Wide, three-quarter length sleeves with a dropped shoulder, finished with an upturned cuff band.
Pockets: Two prominent, rounded patch pockets are strategically placed on the lower front panels.
Edges & Seams: The defining detail of the design. The front edges, collar, and hem are left as clean raw cut edges with no facing, binding, or turned hem, taking advantage of the non-fraying double-face fabric. Selected seams are sewn with the allowances to the outside, pressed to one side and topstitched down for a deliberately exposed finish.
Back: a clean back with an exposed, topstitched center back seam, maintaining the coat's relaxed drape.
Hem: a unique asymmetrical front hem, featuring a longer, rounded point on one side and a shorter, curved finish on the other. The back hem is straight and slightly longer than the coat's shortest front point.
Length: Hip-length overall, with the asymmetrical front extending slightly longer.
Intermediate. Requires familiarity with shawl-collar construction, setting patch pockets, buttonhole application, working with double-face fabric, and the specific raw-edge and exposed seam finishes.
For optimal drape and finish, select soft, thin, and stable coat fabrics:
If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, the patterns are without seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance, front edge allowances, collar edge allowance - 0 cm. Pocket opening allowance – 1.5 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
