Fitted Paneled Skirt with Horizontal Pleats

Pattern #4632
Tech. Description

Fabric recommendations: thin suiting fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. You will also need: fusible interfacing; 1 invisible zipper. If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, seam allowances are not included. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 4 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match! Markings on the patterns are on the right side.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the waistband piece.
  2. Stitch darts on the back pieces, press seam allowances towards the center.
  3. Finish the raw edges of the center back separately. Finish the vent allowances. Stitch the center seam from the zipper mark to the vent corner. Clip the corner of the vent seam allowance on the right side. Press open the center seam allowances, press the vent allowances and secure them with machine stitching. Insert the invisible zipper.
  4. Lay and stitch horizontal pleats on the lower front according to markings. Press pleat depths downwards.
  5. Attach the upper left to the lower front, press seam allowances, overlock. Lay and topstitch the pleat on the upper left (the pleat depth slightly protrudes along the side and upper edge, secure the protrusion so that the pleat lies flat against the lower). Attach the upper right to the lower front, press seam allowances, overlock. Lay and topstitch the pleat on the upper right (the pleat depth slightly protrudes along the side and upper edge, secure the protrusion so that the pleat lies flat against the lower).
  6. Stitch side seams, press seam allowances towards the back and overlock.
  7. Fold the waistband right sides together with the upper edge of the skirt and stitch, leaving an allowance for the fastener protruding at the right back edge of the waistband. Finish the ends of the waistband. Turn under the inner raw edges of the waistband and topstitch from the right side into the attachment seam. On the left end of the waistband, overlock a buttonhole, on the right, sew a button.
  8. Finish the lower edge of the skirt, press to the wrong side and hem with blind stitches.
