Fabric & Materials

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: well-draping dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; 1 concealed zipper.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST AND FOREMOST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED. WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Upper back panel – 2 pieces
    • Lower back panel – 1 piece on fold
    • Upper front panel – 1 piece on fold
    • Lower front panel – 1 piece on fold
    • Back panel placket – 1 piece on fold
    • Front panel placket – 2 pieces
    • Back facing – 2 pieces
    • Front facing – 1 piece
  • FROM FUSIBLE INTERFACING:
    • Back facing – 2 pieces
    • Front facing – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the facing pieces.
  2. Stitch darts on the back and front panel pieces, press the dart allowances towards the center.
  3. Finish the raw edges of the center back upper panel separately. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom, press seam allowances open. Insert the concealed zipper.
  4. Press the back panel placket lengthwise in half, right side out. Place the placket on the lower back panel and secure along the upper edge. Stitch the upper and lower back panels together, press seam allowances upwards and finish the raw edge.
  5. Press the front panel plackets lengthwise in half, right side out. Place the plackets on the lower front panel (the right placket overlaps the left) and secure along the upper edge. Stitch the upper and lower front panels together, press seam allowances upwards and finish the raw edge.
  6. Stitch the side seams, press seam allowances towards the back panel and finish the raw edge.
  7. Stitch the side seams of the facings, press seam allowances open. Finish the lower edge. Place the facing on the skirt right sides together and stitch the upper edge. Understitch the seam allowances to the facing 0.2 cm from the seam. Turn the facings to the inside, press. Stitch the seam allowances to the zipper tape.
  8. Finish the lower edge of the skirt, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
