This comfortable yet chic dress is perfect for a variety of occasions, offering effortless style for:
Silhouette: a relaxed, blouson bodice joined to a straight skirt at the waist seam, cinched with a tie belt.
Neckline: a round neckline, simply turned under and topstitched.
Sleeves: Voluminous short sleeves cut in one with the bodice, finished with an elastic casing at the hem for a soft puff effect.
Waist: The front has a waist seam joining the upper and lower front; a separate self-fabric tie belt cinches the waist and ties at the back.
Back: a simple back with the tie belt knotted at the back waist.
Length: Knee length.
Closure: a pull-on style with no closures.
Beginner. Suitable for those new to sewing knits, involving basic straight seams, elastic insertion, and simple belt construction.
This pattern is designed for knit fabrics with good drape, ensuring comfort and flexibility:
If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, seam allowances are not included. Seam allowances: hem – 2 cm; neckline and sleeve edges – 1.5 cm; all other seams – 1 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
Tip: Knit pieces are stitched with a special stretch stitch or a narrow zigzag. When serging, trim allowances to 0.8 cm. Hems are topstitched with a twin needle to keep them elastic. You can also sew the pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.
