Tip: When sewing knit fabrics, use a special elastic stitch or a narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance should be topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. Alternatively, you can sew the pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread serger.
Sewing Instructions
- Along the side seams of the front, sew a stitch with loosened upper thread and gather.
- Facing the outer edge of flounce 1. Turn to the right side. Facing the outer edge of flounce 2. Turn to the right side. Align the edges of flounce 2. Clip the seam allowance at the shoulder seam notch. Serge the section from the notch to the side edge. Facing the outer edge of flounce 3. Turn to the right side. Clip the seam allowance at the corner near the shoulder edge. Align the seam allowances of all flounces along the back neckline. Stitch the shoulder edges, inserting the seam allowance of flounce 3. Insert flounce 1 into the front neckline, and all 3 flounces are inserted into the back neckline. Topstitch flounce 2 onto the front according to the markings. Topstitch flounce 3 onto the front as shown in the technical drawing.
- Stitch the shoulder edges of the lining. Press the seam allowances open. Place the lining on the right side of the blouse and facing the neckline. Turn the lining to the wrong side.
- Stitch the side edges of the blouse and the lining.
- Facing the armhole edges with the lining in 2 steps: first the front armhole edge, then the back armhole edge.
- Serge the hem allowance of the blouse, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
