Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are sewn with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also sew the pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.
Sewing Instructions
- Attach the pocket LINING to the center FRONT PANEL. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCE, turn the LINING to the wrong side, and press. Attach the SIDE PANEL to the center FRONT PANEL, simultaneously stitching the pocket LININGS. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCE and press towards the center.
- Stitch the center back seam of the BACK PANEL. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCE and press to the left side.
- At the upper edge of the center FRONT PANEL, create and secure two inverted pleats. Attach the yoke to the FRONT PANEL, overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCE and press upwards.
- Attach the yoke to the BACK PANEL. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCE and press upwards.
- Stitch the side and shoulder seams. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCES and press towards the BACK PANEL.
- Fold the COLLAR in half lengthwise, right sides together. Stitch one end of the COLLAR. Stitch the other end of the COLLAR up to the NOTCH — arrow. At the mark, clip the SEAM ALLOWANCE. Trim the corners and turn the COLLAR right side out. Insert the COLLAR into the neckline.
- Stitch the SLEEVE seam. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCE and press towards the back. Insert the SLEEVE into the armhole according to the NOTCHES. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCE.
- Overcast the bottom edge of the garment and the SLEEVE, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
- Smooth out the flying part of the COLLAR and sew on a decorative button.
