Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to neck FACING pieces.
  2. Stitch darts on the upper BACK PANELS, trim seam allowances to 1 cm and press towards the center. On the lower BACK PANELS, create and secure inverted pleats. Attach the upper BACK PANELS to the lower BACK PANELS, press seam allowances upwards and serge.
  3. Serge the center BACK PANEL edges separately. Stitch the center BACK PANEL edge from the zipper mark to the bottom edge, press seam allowances open. Insert the ZIPPER.
  4. Stitch darts on the upper FRONT PANEL, trim seam allowances to 1 cm and press towards the center. On the lower FRONT PANELS, create and secure inverted pleats. Attach the lower FRONT PANEL to the upper FRONT PANEL, press seam allowances upwards and serge.
  5. Stitch side and shoulder seams, press seam allowances towards the BACK PANEL and serge.
  6. Stitch shoulder and side seams of the FACINGS. Press seam allowances open. Serge the center edges and the outer edge of the FACING. Place the dress and FACING right sides together and stitch the neckline. Clip seam allowances at curves, turn the FACING out, straighten and press. Stitch the armhole in two steps: first the BACK PANEL, then the FRONT PANEL. Clip seam allowances at curves, turn out, press. Secure the FACING to the garment at the side seam allowances. Attach the FACING to the ZIPPER tape.
  7. Serge the bottom edge of the dress, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  8. Fold the belt piece in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch, leaving a small opening for turning. Trim seam allowances at corners, turn the belt right side out and press. Sew the opening closed. Thread the belt through the buckle and secure.
