Cowl Neck Top

Pattern #4237
Tech. Description

Cowl Neck Top

Introducing a women's sewing pattern for a comfortable cowl neck top, featuring an elegant draped neckline, three-quarter length sleeves, and a stylish banded hem.

When To Wear:

  • Casual & Everyday Comfort: Perfect for relaxed outings or comfortable at-home wear.
  • Smart-Casual Work Attire: Easily dressed up for office environments or business casual settings.
  • Transitional Seasons: Ideal for layering during spring or autumn due to its sleeve length and knit fabric.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: a relaxed-fit top that gently skims the body, tapering slightly to a banded hem at the hip.

Neckline: a graceful cowl neck that drapes softly, creating a flattering, open neckline.

Sleeves: Three-quarter length sleeves finished with neat, fitted cuffs.

Back: a clean, unadorned back panel, maintaining the top's sleek profile.

Hem: a comfortable banded hem that sits at the hip, providing a neat finish.

Level Of Difficulty

Beginner. Suitable for those new to sewing knits, covering basic garment assembly, seam finishing, and attaching bands.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose medium-stretch knit fabrics that offer comfort and drape:

  • Medium stretch knit fabrics
  • Natural fiber knits (e.g., cotton jersey, rayon jersey)
  • Blended fiber knits (e.g., poly-blend jersey, modal blends)

Additional Supplies

No additional notions are required.

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: All seams 0.8 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 1 piece
    • Front – 1 piece
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Collar – 1 piece
    • Bottom band — 1 piece
    • Cuff — 2 pieces

Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch.

Sewing Instructions
