A women's sewing pattern for a sleek, fitted dress distinguished by its elegant princess seams and unique gathered chiffon cap sleeves.
This sophisticated dress is perfect for occasions where elegance and unique detailing are desired, making it an excellent choice for:
Silhouette: a sleek, fitted dress that gracefully skims the body, extending to a knee-length hem.
Neckline: Features a clean, high round neckline.
Sleeves: Unique short cap sleeves crafted from contrasting sheer fabric, detailed with gentle gathers along the shoulder and armhole for a soft, structured volume.
Body: Defined by elegant princess seams on both the front and back bodice, enhancing the fitted silhouette.
Back: Includes a prominent center back seam and princess seams that mirror the front for a cohesive, tailored finish.
Intermediate. Requires experience with delicate fabrics like velvet and chiffon, along with skills in elastic thread application and precise seam construction.
To achieve the intended drape and feel, select fabrics with stretch for the dress body and a delicate, sheer fabric for the sleeves:
If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: hem allowance – 2 cm, neckline allowance for front and back – 1.5 cm. All other seams 1 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is stitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.
