Fabric & Materials
Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. You will also need: bias binding in a contrasting color (approximate length indicated on the front pattern piece), zipper, 3 buttons, fusible interfacing.
CUTTER'S MUST
IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: hem allowance – 2 cm, outer allowance of flounce and rosette – 0 cm, all other seams 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED. Sewing Instructions
- Reinforce pieces with fusible interfacing. For the belt, it is better to use stiff interfacing.
- Stitch the back princess seams. Overlock allowances and press towards the center. Overlock the center back edges. Stitch the center back edges from the zipper mark to the hem and press open. Insert the zipper.
- Fold the flounce pieces right sides out and align the edges. Bind the outer edge with bias binding and press. Similarly, finish the upper edge of the rosette.
- Attach the flounce to the princess seam of the left side front, observing the marks. Attach the upper edge of the flounce to the shoulder seam (up to the mark). Fold the rosette in half, aligning the short crosswise edges. Attach the short edges of the rosette to the shoulder seam over the flounce, aligning the open edge of the rosette with the princess seam of the side front. Fold the free end of the rosette into a spiral, positioning the spiral between the round marks. Stitch the left princess seam. Overlock the allowance and press towards the center. Stitch the right princess seam of the front. Overlock the allowance and press towards the center.
- Stitch the shoulder seams. Overlock allowances and press towards the back.
- Cut a bias strip from the main fabric, equal to the armhole length and 4 cm wide. Press it in half lengthwise, right side out, align with the armhole and stitch. Fold the binding to the wrong side, clip allowances, and topstitch along the fold.
- Stitch the side seams, overlock allowances and press towards the back.
- Stitch the shoulder seams of the facings. Press allowances open. Overlock the outer edge of the facings. Place the facings on the right side of the dress and stitch the neckline. Clip allowances and turn the facing to the wrong side. Secure the facing to the shoulder seams and zipper.
- Overlock the bottom edge of the garment. Fold to the wrong side, press, and hem with blind stitches.
- Fold the belt lengthwise in half right sides together and stitch the long side and 1 short side. Turn the belt right side out, straighten the corners, and press. Stitch the short side. Make buttonholes and sew on buttons.
