When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
- From main fabric:
- Center back – 1 piece
- Side back – 2 pieces
- Front insert – 2 pieces
- Right front – 1 piece
- Left front – 1 piece
- Back facing – 2 pieces
- Front facing - 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Back facing – 1 piece
- Front facing - 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the respective pieces.
- Stitch the back princess seams, press allowances towards the center, serge. Attach the outer facing to the back, press allowances towards the facing.
- Serge the allowances of the lower edges of the front panels, press allowances to the wrong side, topstitch. Along the bias edge of the right front, stitch with a loosened upper thread and gather. Place the right front over the left front and secure along the open edges.
- Attach the front inserts to the front, clipping into the corners, press allowances downwards, serge.
- Serge the left side edges separately. Stitch the seam from the zipper mark to the bottom (the side edge of the back is longer than the side edge of the front by the hem allowance). Press allowances open. Insert the invisible zipper.
- Stitch the right side seam (the side edge of the back is longer than the side edge of the front by the hem allowance), press allowances towards the back and serge.
- Stitch the right side seam of the inner facings, press allowances open, serge the lower edge. Place the facing and skirt right sides together and stitch the upper edge. Clip allowances, turn the facing to the wrong side and press. Secure to the allowances of the right side seam and the zipper tape.
- Serge the lower edge of the back, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
