Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; concealed zipper. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance – 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
    • Center back – 2 pieces
    • Side back – 2 pieces
    • Center front – 1 piece on fold
    • Side front – 2 pieces
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
    • Front neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Collar – 4 pieces
    • Cuff - 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
    • Front neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Collar – 2 pieces
    • Cuff – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Stitch the back princess seams, press allowances towards the center, serge.
  3. Serge the center back edges separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom edge, press allowances open. Insert the concealed zipper.
  4. Stitch the front princess seams, press allowances towards the center, serge.
  5. Stitch the side and shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and serge.
  6. Fold collars in pairs right sides together, stitch the ends and the outer edge of the collar. Trim seams, turn collars right side out, shape and press.
  7. Stitch the shoulder seams of the neckline facings, press allowances open. Serge the outer edge. Place the facing on the garment right sides together and stitch the neckline edge, inserting the collars. Clip allowances at curves, clip the front at the corner, turn facings to the wrong side and press. Secure to shoulder seams and zipper tape.
  8. Stitch the sleeve seam, press allowances towards the back and serge. Stitch the cuff into a loop. Press allowances open. Fold the cuff in half lengthwise right side out and press. Attach the cuff from the wrong side. Serge the allowance. Fold the cuff to the right side and secure at the sleeve seam. Set sleeves into armholes, press allowances and serge.
  9. Serge the hem allowance of the dress, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
