Sewing Instructions
- Reinforce details with fusible interfacing.
- Form inverted pleats on the front pieces and stitch along the marked line. Form and topstitch pleats on the back. Secure pleats along the upper edge.
- Finish the left side edges separately. Stitch the left side seam from the notch for the zipper to the bottom. Press seam allowances open. Insert an invisible zipper. Stitch the right side edge. Finish seam allowances and press towards the back half.
- Fold the waistband in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the short side and the extension. Start stitching strictly at the marked line for attaching the waistband to the skirt. At the mark, clip the seam allowances, turn the waistband right side out and press. Attach the outer side of the waistband to the upper edge, turn under the inner side and topstitch into the attachment seam.
- Fold the flap in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the long side and the shaped sides. Trim seam allowances, clip at corners, and turn right side out. Press the flap. Tuck in and secure the raw edges of the short side. Place the flap over the pleat, wrapping around the waistband, and topstitch along the contour.
- Finish the hem allowance, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
- Make a buttonhole on the waistband. Sew buttons onto the waistband and belt loops.
