Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: coat fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: lining fabric, fusible interfacing; 8 sew-on snap fasteners; shoulder pads.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for coat bottom and sleeve bottom - 3.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 2 pieces
    • Front – 2 pieces
    • Side front – 2 pieces
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Collar – 2 pieces
    • Front facing – 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Pocket – 2 pieces
  • From lining fabric:
    • Back – 2 pieces
    • Front lining – 2 pieces
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Pocket lining – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Front facing – 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing - 1 piece
    • Collar – 1 piece

Back and front lining pieces are cut by subtracting the back neckline facing and front facing pieces.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Interface the pieces with fusible interfacing. Interface the one-piece pocket facing. Interface the sleeve hem allowance.
  2. Stitch the center back seam. Press allowances open.
  3. Stitch the darts on the front. Trim depths to 1 cm. Slash the dart point allowance, gradually tapering to nothing. Press allowances open.
  4. Stitch the pocket lining to the one-piece pocket facing, press the allowance towards the lining. Press the pocket along the marked line and press. Place the pocket on the side front and secure along the curved, bottom, and side edges.
  5. Stitch the curved seam of the front, clipping the front allowance at the corner. Press allowances open.
  6. Stitch shoulder and side seams, press allowances open. Attach the outer collar to the neckline of the front and back. Press allowances open.
  7. Stitch the sleeve seam. Press allowance open. Press the sleeve hem allowance to the wrong side. Set the sleeve into the armhole. Press allowances. Sew on shoulder pads.
  8. Stitch and press open the shoulder seams of the back neckline facing and front facing. Attach the inner collar to the neckline of the front facing and facing, press allowances open.
  9. Press the bottom edge of the coat to the wrong side. Place the front facing on the right side of the front, right side down, pin and stitch the front edge and collar. Clip allowances at corners. Turn out the front edges, straighten seams, press. Stitch the collar allowances together.
  10. Stitch seams on lining pieces, leaving an opening in the left sleeve seam for subsequent turning. Attach the lining to the front facings, facing, bottom of the garment, and sleeve bottom. Turn the coat right side out, sew up the technical opening.
  11. Sew on snap fasteners according to marks.
