- Upper back – 2 pieces
- Middle back – 1 piece
- Lower back – 2 pieces
- Upper front – 1 piece on fold
- Middle front – 1 piece
- Lower front – 1 piece on fold
- Sleeve – 2 pieces
- Placket – 1 piece
Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim allowances to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.
Sewing Instructions
- Stitch the center seam of the upper and lower back parts. Press allowances to the left side and serge.
- Stitch the shoulder seams of the upper back and front parts, press allowance towards the back, serge.
- Fold the placket piece lengthwise in half, right sides together, and stitch along the long side and one short side. Turn the piece right side out, straighten, and press.
- Serge the neckline edge, press to the wrong side and topstitch. Place the placket on the front according to the markings and topstitch along three sides. Along the lower edge of the upper front, between the marks, make a basting stitch with loosened upper thread and gather.
- Attach the middle back to the upper back, press allowances towards the middle and serge. Attach the lower back to the middle back, press allowances towards the middle and serge.
- Attach the middle front to the upper front, press allowances towards the middle and serge. Attach the lower front to the middle front, press allowances towards the middle and serge.
- Stitch the side seams, press allowances towards the back and serge.
- Stitch the sleeve seam, press allowances towards the back and serge. Set sleeves into armholes, matching notches, press allowances and serge.
- Serge the bottom edge of the garment and sleeves, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
- Sew buttons onto the placket.
