Tech. Description

Sleeveless Round Neck Sheath Dress

A sleeveless women's sheath dress with a round neckline, panel seams from the armholes to the hem, a horizontal seam across the centre front and centre back panels, and a centre back vent with a concealed zipper.

When To Wear

  • To the office in warm weather, or under a jacket or cardigan in spring and autumn.
  • With low heels for daytime events.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted sheath, slightly widening to the hem through the panel seams.

Length: Knee length.

Neckline: Round, finished by a self-fabric inner layer: the upper centre front and upper centre back are cut double and the neckline is stitched between the two layers.

Sleeves: Sleeveless, with cut-in armholes.

Front: A centre panel divided by a horizontal seam above the waist, with side front panels joined by panel seams that run from the armhole to the hem.

Back: Same panel layout as the front, plus a centre back seam with a concealed zipper and a vent at the hem.

Finishing: Hem turned up 3 cm and blind-stitched by hand; panel seam allowances pressed towards the centre.

Lining: The upper side front and upper side back panels are lined; the lining is stitched to the armhole edge, turned through and then handled as one layer with the dress.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Six main pieces per side to match at the seams, a double-layer neckline, a partly lined armhole, a lapped back vent and a concealed zipper.

Fabric Recommendations

Dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibres.
