Fabric & Materials
Fabric recommendations: medium-stretch knit fabric made from natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: knit bias tape; elastic tape, 0.5 cm wide.
CUTTER'S MUST
IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: hem allowance — 2.0 cm, other seams 1 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED.
- From main fabric:
- Upper back part – 1 piece with fold
- Lower back part – 1 piece with fold
- Upper front part — 1 piece with fold
- Lower front part — 1 piece with fold
Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.
Sewing Instructions
WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!
- Stitch the right shoulder seam, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
- Cut (if not ready-made) bias tape 4 cm wide, equal to the neckline length + 4 cm. Fold the bias tape in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the bias tape along the neckline edge on the right side and stitch, then fold the tape to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece.
- Stitch the left shoulder seam, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
- Cut (if not ready-made) bias tape 4 cm wide, equal to the armhole length + 4 cm. Fold the bias tape in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the bias tape along the armhole edge on the right side and stitch, then fold the tape to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece.
- Stitch the side seams on the upper and lower parts of the garment, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
- Along the upper edge of the lower part of the garment, sew a basting stitch with loosened upper thread and gather. Stitch the upper and lower parts together, press allowances and overlock.
- Overlock the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
- Cut a piece of elastic tape equal to the waist circumference minus 5 cm and topstitch it, stretching, onto the seam allowance where the upper and lower parts are joined.
