Fabric & Materials

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. ALSO NEEDED: fusible interfacing; 1 invisible zipper; 1 invisible zipper 15-20 cm. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for the bottom of the garment – 2 cm. Hem allowance for the bottom of the sleeve – 1.5 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

CUTTER'S MUST

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Center back – 2 pieces
    • Side back – 2 pieces
    • Side front – 2 pieces
    • Center front – 1 piece on fold
    • Back sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Front sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Front neckline facing - 1 piece
    • Collar – 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Collar – 1 piece
    • Front neckline facing - 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Serge the center back edges separately. Stitch the center back seam from the top to the zipper mark and from the lower zipper mark to the bottom. Press the seam allowances open, pressing the slit for the fastener. Insert the zipper.
  3. Stitch the back princess seams, press the seam allowances towards the center and serge. Topstitch along the princess seam from the armhole to the mark.
  4. Attach the back sleeve pieces to the back, press the seam allowances towards the sleeve and serge.
  5. Serge the lower edge of the neckline facing. Place the front neckline facing right sides together with the front and stitch along the upper edge. Start and end the stitching strictly at the marked sleeve attachment line. Clip the seam allowance at the beginning and end of the stitching. Clip the seam allowances on the curve, turn to the wrong side and press.
  6. Stitch the front princess seams, stitching the pleat allowances. Serge the princess seams and press towards the center. Press the pleat. Secure the pleat apex allowance to the main fabric with invisible stitches. Topstitch along the princess seam from the top to the pleat.
  7. Attach the front left sleeve piece to the front, press the seam allowances towards the sleeve and serge. Serge the allowances of the right armhole and right sleeve, stitch the seams from the zipper mark to the armhole. Insert the invisible zipper.
  8. Stitch the upper sleeve seams, press the seam allowances towards the back and serge. Stitch the lower sleeve seams and side seams in one continuous line, press the seam allowances towards the back and serge.
  9. Place the collar pieces right sides together and stitch along the ends and outer edge. Start and end the stitching strictly at the marked collar attachment line to the neckline. Trim the seams at the corners, clip on the curve. Turn the collar right side out, straighten and press. Attach the outer collar to the neckline, press the seam allowance towards the collar. Fold the seam allowance of the inner collar inwards and topstitch into the attachment seam.
  10. Serge the hem allowance of the garment and sleeve, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
