Tech. Description

Contrast Trim Sheath Dress with Pockets

A women's knee-length sheath dress with a waist seam, princess-seamed bodice, short gathered set-in sleeves and four sewn-on flaps at chest and hip. Decorative braid edges the neckline, centre front bodice, flaps, waist seam, sleeves and hem.

When To Wear

  • At the office in spring and autumn, with court shoes.
  • For daytime meetings and receptions, with or without a jacket.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Close-fitting sheath with a seam at the waist.

Length: About knee length.

Neckline: Round neckline finished with interfaced facings, braid stitched along the edge.

Sleeves: Short set-in sleeves, gathered at the cap, with braid stitched near the hem.

Front: Upper front in a centre panel and two side panels joined by princess seams, with darts; braid runs down the centre of the upper front. Lower front cut on the fold, with darts.

Pockets: Four interfaced flaps, two on the bodice and two below the waist seam, edged with braid; the lower flaps each carry one button. The cutting list has no pocket bags, so the flaps are decorative.

Back: Princess seams on the upper back, darts on the lower back, centre back seam with a concealed zipper and a slit at the hem.

Waist: Horizontal waist seam covered with braid.

Finishing: Dress and sleeve hems sewn by hand with blind stitches; braid along the hem.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Princess seams, a concealed zipper, a back slit, faced flaps and braid applied evenly along curves and seams.

Fabric Recommendations

Dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibres.
