Short Sleeve Gathered Button Front Dress

Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. You will also need: fusible interlining, 10 buttons.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: All seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for the bottom edge of the garment and sleeve – 1.5 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

• From main fabric:
  • Back - 2 pieces
  • Lower back part – 2 pieces
  • Front - 2 pieces
  • Lower front part – 2 pieces
  • Back waistband – 1 piece
  • Front waistband – 2 pieces
  • Sleeve – 2 pieces
  • Neckline facing – 2 pieces
  • Placket – 2 pieces
• From fusible interlining:
  • Neckline facing – 1 piece
  • Placket – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse interlining to the designated pieces.
2. Stitch the center back seam on the upper and lower back parts. Overlock the allowances and press them to the left side. Attach the back waistband to the upper back part. Overlock the allowance and press it to the waistband. Attach the lower part. Overlock the allowance and press it to the waistband.
3. Attach the front waistband to the upper front part. Overlock the allowance and press it to the waistband. Attach the lower part. Overlock the allowance and press it to the waistband.
4. Attach the sleeves to the back, press the allowances towards the back and overlock. Attach the sleeves to the front, press the allowances towards the front and overlock.
5. Stitch the side seams and sleeve seams simultaneously. Overlock the allowances and press them towards the back.
6. Along the upper edge of the necklines and sleeve, stitch with a loosened upper thread and gather. Distribute the gathers closer to the centers of the pieces.
7. Place the facings right sides together and stitch the neckline. Clip the allowances at the curves, turn the inner facing to the wrong side and press. Stitch the outer part of the facing to the neckline. Press the allowances towards the facing. Fold under the raw edge of the inner facing and topstitch into the seam.
8. Fold the placket in half lengthwise, right sides together, and press. Attach the outer edge of the placket to the front. Stitch the upper corner up to the marked attachment line. Trim the allowance at the corner, turn the inner part of the placket to the wrong side, fold the allowance and topstitch from the right side 0.1 cm along the placket.
9. Overlock the hem allowance of the garment, fold it inwards and topstitch.
10. Overlock buttonholes on the right placket. Sew buttons onto the left placket.
