Fabric recommendations: low-stretch knit fabric made from natural or blended fibers in contrasting or complementary colors. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: knit fusible interfacing; 1 button. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance – 2.0 cm. Collar upper edge allowance – 0 cm.
CUTTER'S MUST
ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).
- From main fabric:
- Upper back part - 2 pieces
- Lower back part - 1 piece on fold
- Upper front part - 1 piece on fold
- Lower front part - 1 piece on fold
- Collar - 2 pieces on fold
- Sleeve - 2 pieces
- From main fabric 1:
- Back insert - 1 piece on fold
- Front insert - 1 piece on fold
- Cuff - 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Collar - 1 piece on fold
Sewing Instructions
WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH! Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or on a coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.
- Fuse the outer collar with fusible interfacing.
- Stitch darts on front pieces, press allowances upwards. Stitch the center seam of the upper back, press allowances to the left side and overlock.
- Stitch shoulder seams, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
- Fold collar pieces wrong sides together and secure along the edges. Cut a bias binding from main fabric_1, 4 cm wide and length equal to the upper collar edge length + 4 cm. Bind the upper collar edge with bias binding, press the piece. Overlap the right side of the collar onto the left and secure them together. Stitch the collar into the neckline, press allowances and overlock.
- Attach the back insert to the upper part, press allowances upwards and overlock. Attach the lower part to the back insert, press allowances upwards and overlock.
- Attach the front insert to the upper part, press allowances upwards and overlock. Attach the lower part to the front insert, press allowances upwards and overlock.
- Stitch side seams, press allowances towards the back and overlock.
- Stitch sleeve seam, press allowances towards the back and overlock. Set sleeves into armholes, matching notches, press allowances and overlock.
- Stitch cuff into a loop, press allowances open. Press cuff lengthwise in half with right side out. Attach cuff to sleeve, press allowances towards the sleeve and overlock.
- Overlock the hem allowance, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
- Sew a button onto the collar, securing the right and left parts.
