Introducing a women's sewing pattern for a chic shift dress featuring a distinctive gathered high-neck yoke and a comfortable, relaxed silhouette.
This versatile dress is perfect for a variety of occasions, offering effortless style and comfort:
Silhouette: a relaxed, straight shift silhouette that drapes gracefully from the gathered yoke.
Neckline: a distinctive high stand collar with soft gathers radiating across the front upper bodice.
Yoke: The front bodice features an intricately gathered yoke, creating texture and a focal point.
Sleeves: Short, integrated cap sleeves designed with underarm gussets for enhanced comfort and freedom of movement.
Closure: An invisible zipper neatly placed at the center back for a smooth finish.
Back: a clean, unadorned back with a central seam providing subtle shaping.
Length: a versatile above-knee length, offering a modern and practical appeal.
Waist: Undefined, maintaining the relaxed, flowing lines of the shift silhouette.
Intermediate. Requires proficiency in working with knit fabrics, creating gathers, and inserting an invisible zipper with precision.
For the best results and drape, choose dense knit fabrics with low stretch, ensuring a comfortable yet structured finish:
If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 2 cm. Attention! First of all, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim allowances to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity.
