Fabric & Materials

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: dense dress fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. For example, denim or corduroy. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: lining fabric; fusible interfacing; bias tape; concealed zipper; 4 buttons.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS ARE WITHOUT SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 4.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

  • From main fabric:
    • Central upper back part – 2 pieces
    • Side upper back part – 2 pieces
    • Central lower back part – 2 pieces
    • Side lower back part – 2 pieces
    • Central upper front part - 1 piece on fold
    • Side upper front part - 2 pieces
    • Central lower front part – 1 piece on fold
    • Side lower front part_1 - 2 pieces
    • Side lower front part_2 - 2 pieces
    • Flap – 2 pieces
    • Front neckline facing - 1 piece
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces
  • From lining fabric:
    • Flap – 2 pieces
    • Pocket bag – 4 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Flap – 2 pieces
    • Front neckline facing - 1 piece
    • Back neckline facing – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Stitch the back princess seams on the upper and lower parts, press seam allowances towards the center and overcast. Topstitch along the seam at 0.7 cm. Stitch the upper and lower back parts, press seam allowances upwards and overcast. Topstitch along the seam at 0.7 cm.
  3. Overcast the center back edges separately on each piece. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper mark to the bottom, press seam allowances open. Insert the concealed zipper.
  4. Place the flap and lining right sides together and stitch along the outer contour. Trim seam allowances at corners, turn the flap right side out. Place the flap on the side lower front part_2 and topstitch with a double stitch at 0.1 cm and 0.7 cm.
  5. Attach pocket bags to the side lower front part_1 and side lower front part_2, press seam allowances towards the pocket bag. Stitch the princess seams, simultaneously stitching the pocket bags. Press seam allowances towards the center and overcast.
  6. Stitch the front princess seams on the upper and lower parts, press seam allowances towards the center and overcast. Topstitch along the seam at 0.7 cm. Stitch the upper and lower front parts, press seam allowances upwards and overcast. Topstitch along the seam at 0.7 cm.
  7. Stitch the side seams, press seam allowances towards the back and overcast.
  8. Stitch the side seams of the neckline facings, press seam allowances open. Overcast the lower edge. Place the facing and garment right sides together and stitch the neckline and strap edges. Clip seam allowances at curves, trim at corners. Turn the facing to the wrong side, straighten, and press. Topstitch along the neckline and straps at 0.7 cm.
  9. Overcast the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  10. Make buttonholes on the straps. Sew buttons on the front and flaps.
