CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
    • Center back part – 2 pieces
    • Side back part – 2 pieces
    • Side front part – 2 pieces
    • Center front part – 2 pieces
    • Front facing – 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Pocket - 2 pieces
    • Flap - 2 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Front facing – 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Flap - 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Stitch the back princess seams, press seam allowances towards the center and overcast. Stitch the center back seam, press seam allowances to the left side and overcast.
  3. Stitch the front princess seams, press seam allowances towards the center and overcast.
  4. Fold the flap piece in half, right sides together, and stitch along the side edges. Trim seam allowances, turn the flap right side out, and press. Overcast the raw edge.
  5. Form and secure the inverted pleat. Overcast the pocket piece along the contour. Fold the top edge inwards and topstitch. Press the pocket seam allowances to the wrong side. Place the pocket on the front piece and topstitch. Attach the flap to the front piece above the pocket, turn down, and topstitch.
  6. Place the front pieces right sides together and align the edges, measuring the length of the front openings. Attach the zipper to the edge of the front opening.
  7. Stitch the shoulder and side seams, press seam allowances towards the back and overcast.
  8. Stitch the shoulder seams of the back neckline facing and front facings, press seam allowances open. Overcast the outer edge.
  9. Place the front facings with the garment right sides together and stitch the front openings, neckline edge, and bottom corner of the front opening. Clip seam allowances at curves, trim at corners, turn the pieces right side out.
  10. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 6 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Fold the binding to the wrong side, clip seam allowances, and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
  11. Overcast the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
  12. Overcast buttonholes on the flaps, sew buttons on the pockets.
