Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: medium stretch knit fabric made from natural or blended fibers. You will also need: knit fusible interfacing.

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for the dress bottom edge – 3.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Lower front part – 1 piece
    • Lower back part – 2 pieces
  • From main fabric1:
    • Back neckline facing - 2 pieces
    • Front neckline facing - 2 pieces
    • Front belt – 4 pieces
    • Back belt – 1 piece
  • From main fabric2:
    • Upper back part – 2 pieces
    • Upper front part - 1 piece on fold
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Front neckline facing – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Stitch darts on the back pieces. Press dart depths towards the center. Stitch the center back seam of the upper and lower back parts. Overlock seam allowances and press to the left side. Attach the back belt to the upper and lower back parts. Overlock seam allowances and press towards the belt.
  3. Stitch bust darts. Press dart depths upwards.
  4. Stitch the upper and lower front parts. Overlock seam allowance and press upwards.
  5. Fold the front neckline facings right sides together and stitch the neckline and shoulder edges. Turn the facing to the right side and press. Process the back facing in the same way. Stitch the front and back facings at the shoulder seams, spreading them to two sides. Attach the front facing to the upper front part, overlock the seam allowance and press towards the front. Attach the back facing to the back, overlock the seam allowance and press towards the back.
  6. Cut a bias strip 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 6 cm. Fold the bias strip in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the bias strip with the armhole edge, right sides together, extending the ends, and stitch. Fold the bias strip to the wrong side, clip the seams, and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece. Press the seam.
  7. Fold the front belt pieces in pairs and stitch along the long and diagonal sides. Trim seam allowances, turn right side out, and press.
  8. Stitch the side seams, inserting the front belts according to the marks. Press seam allowances towards the back and overlock.
  9. Overlock the bottom edge of the dress, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
