Tech. Description

CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
    • Inner back - 1 piece on fold
    • Inner front - 1 piece on fold
    • Front insert – 2 pieces
    • Back yoke – 1 piece on fold
    • Placket — 4 pieces
    • Sleeve – 2 pieces
    • Sleeve tab – 2 pieces
  • From chiffon:
    • Outer back - 1 piece on fold
    • Outer front - 1 piece on fold
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Placket – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Interface the details with fusible interfacing.
  2. Form pleats on the outer back piece, directing the depth towards the center. Place the outer back onto the inner back, wrong side to right side, and secure along the upper edge. Stitch the back yoke to the back, press seam allowances towards the yoke and serge.
  3. Fold the placket pieces in pairs and stitch the outer edge. Turn the pieces right side out, smooth and press. On the right placket, overcast buttonholes. Stitch the plackets to the front insert, press seam allowances towards the insert and serge. Place the right insert over the left and secure along the lower edge.
  4. Form pleats on the outer front piece, directing the depth towards the center. Place the outer front onto the inner front, wrong side to right side, and secure along the upper edge. Stitch the insert to the front, press seam allowances towards the front and serge.
  5. Stitch shoulder seams, press seam allowances towards the back and serge. Stitch side seams separately on the outer and inner parts, press seam allowances towards the back and serge. Secure the armhole edges, then treat as one piece.
  6. Cut a bias binding equal to the neckline length + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Unfold the piece, press the edges towards the fold. Bind the neckline edge.
  7. Fold the tabs in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch along the long and short edges. Turn right side out, trimming seam allowances at the corners, smooth and press. Serge the open short edge. Topstitch the tabs according to markings on the wrong side of the sleeves.
  8. Stitch sleeve seams, press towards the back and serge. Set sleeves into armholes, press seam allowances and serge.
  9. Serge the hem of the garment and sleeves, fold inwards and topstitch.
  10. Sew buttons on the left placket. Overcast buttonholes on the tabs, sew buttons on the sleeves.
