Introducing a charming sleeveless dress pattern, featuring an elegant empire waist and a distinctive twisted bust detail for a flattering silhouette.

When To Wear

This dress is perfect for warm-weather occasions, offering effortless style for:

  • Casual Gatherings: Its comfortable yet chic design makes it ideal for everyday wear or relaxed social events.
  • Vacation & Resort Wear: Lightweight and breezy, perfect for seaside strolls or poolside lounging.
  • Summer Evenings: Easily dressed up with accessories for a sophisticated yet relaxed dinner outfit.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: An a-line cut that flows gently from a high empire waist, offering a comfortable and flattering drape.

Neckline: a stylish V-neckline is formed by the unique construction of the twisted bust detail.

Bust Detail: The standout feature is a prominent twisted knot at the center front bodice, creating elegant gathers and shaping.

Sleeves: Sleeveless design with clean-finished armholes for a cool and unrestricted feel.

Waist: a defined empire waistline sits high, with subtle gathering on the skirt below the bust, enhancing comfort and movement.

Back: Features a simple, smooth a-line back panel with a center back seam.

Length: Designed to finish at an above-knee to knee-length, perfect for warmer climates.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. This pattern requires experience with knit fabrics, precise gathering techniques, and assembling multi-part bodice details, specifically the twisted front construction.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose knit fabrics with good drape and recovery to highlight the twisted bust and flowing silhouette:

  • Knit fabrics with medium or low stretch, made from natural or blended fibers (e.g., jersey, interlock, rayon knit)

Additional Supplies

No additional notions are required.

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: Hem allowance – 1.5 cm, other seams 1 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need.

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 1 piece
    • Upper front – 2 pieces
    • Lower front – 1 piece on fold

Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity.

Sewing Instructions

When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  1. Stitch shoulder seams of back and front. Serge and press seams towards the back.
  2. Serge the neckline edge. Fold the allowance to the wrong side, press and topstitch.
  3. Serge the upper straight edge (section 4-5 cm wide) of the lower front and the analogous edge of the upper front. Fold the allowance to the wrong side, press and topstitch.
  4. Along the upper curved edge of the lower front, lay a stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather, positioning the gathering closer to the center. The amount of gathering is indicated on the pattern.
  5. Fold the curved edges of the left upper front right sides together and stitch to the analogous edge of the lower front. Serge and press the seam. Insert the right piece into the created loop and stitch in the same way.
  6. Fold the lower edge of the upper front along the notch at the side seam and secure the upper and lower front parts together along the side edge.
  7. Stitch the center back seam. Serge and press the seam.
  8. Stitch the side seams of the back and front. Serge and press seams towards the back.
  9. Serge the lower edge of the garment and the armhole edge. Fold to the wrong side, press and topstitch.
