Sewing Instructions
- Reinforce the waistband, pocket FACINGs of the front and back PANELs, and the left zipper guard with fusible interfacing (Heat-activated interfacings are ironed onto the wrong side of the piece with a hot iron).
- Stitch and press the dart of the back.
- Place the corresponding guard wrong side onto the right side of the front pocket bag according to the markings, turn under the inner edges and stitch along the edge; baste the guard to the pocket bag along the open edges.
- Press the front pocket facing in half lengthwise, wrong side in.
- Pin the front pocket facing, turned towards the center edge, right side onto the front according to the markings, place the pocket bag side without the guard wrong side down on top according to the markings and stitch the facing and pocket bag at a distance of 1 cm on both sides of the markings; cut the main fabric and pocket bag along the markings, tapering to the ends of the stitches, turn the pocket bag to the wrong side of the garment, straighten the facing and stitch the formed fabric corners and facing ends from the wrong side to the pocket bag.
- Press the front pocket bag in half along the markings right side in, stitch along the bottom edges and overlock the seam allowances; from the right side (for the more experienced - from the wrong side) lay a securing stitch along the top and edges of the pocket opening of the front, attaching the pocket bag.
- Baste the front pocket bag to the waist edge.
- Make the pocket on the back similarly to the pocket on the front and make a buttonhole according to the markings during the pocket construction.
- Form the pleat on the front according to the markings, stitch, press in the indicated direction and baste to the waist edge; form and baste the pleat on the lining.
- Finish the bottom of the lining with a zigzag stitch.
- Place the lining on the front wrong sides in and baste along the open edges.
- Stitch the side and inseam seams, overlock the seam allowances.
- Stitch the center seam of the front PANELs up to the zipper mark and overlock the seam allowances.
- Fold the right zipper guard pieces right sides together, stitch along the outer edges, turn out and press.
- Make the "zipper with attached guard" - Place the left guard on the corresponding zipper edge right sides together and stitch along the edge.
- Press the seam allowances towards the guard and lay a securing stitch; press the guard to the wrong side of the garment.
- Pin the zipper, turned sideways, to the right zipper edge, place the guard folded in half wrong side in on top, aligning the edges, and stitch all layers; straighten the guard and lay a securing stitch along the edge of the zipper.
- Stitch the second side of the zipper to the left guard.
- Overlock the seam allowances and stitch the left guard to the main garment.
- From the wrong side, lay a securing zigzag stitch along the bottom edges of the guards.
- Fold the wide belt loops piece in half lengthwise right side in, stitch along the long edges, turn out and press, centering the seam; cut the belt loops piece in half.
- Similarly, make the narrow belt loops piece and cut into six parts.
- Pin the belt loops, turned downwards, right side onto the waist edge according to the markings.
- Trim excess fabric from the front end of the left waistband according to the markings, leaving a 1 cm seam allowance.
- Bind the inner edge of each waistband with bias binding - Place the bias binding on the garment right sides together, aligning the edges, and stitch at a distance of 1/4 the width of the bias binding.
- Wrap the bias binding around the edge of the main garment, fold under the remaining edge of the bias binding (1/4 the width of the bias binding) and stitch along the fold, aligning it with the previous seam.
- Fold each waistband piece in half lengthwise right side in and stitch the front end; turn out and press.
- Stitch the open edges of each waistband to the corresponding parts of the waist edge right sides together, aligning the notches with the side seams, and press the seam allowances towards the waistband.
- Starting from the inseam seams, stitch the center seam of the back PANELs and waistband, press the seam allowances open and overlock.
- Press the waistband in half lengthwise and sew the bound edge of the waistband.
