Sewing Instructions
- Reinforce the upper collar, upper collar stand, cuffs, front yokes, patch pocket flaps, and welt pocket facings with fusible interfacing (Heat-adhesive interfacings are pressed onto the wrong side of the fabric with a hot iron).
- On the front panels, create a "Welt pocket with a flap" - Place the welt pocket underlay wrong side to the right side of the pocket bag, fold under the inner edges of the underlay and stitch along the edge; baste the underlay to the pocket bag along the open edges.
- Fold the welt pocket facing in half lengthwise, wrong side in.
- Pin the pocket facing, unfolded towards the edge, right side onto the front according to the markings. Lay the pocket bag without the underlay, wrong side down, on top according to the markings and stitch the facing and pocket bag 1 cm on both sides of the markings; cut the main fabric and pocket bag along the markings, tapering to the ends of the stitches, turn the pocket bag to the wrong side of the garment, straighten the facing and stitch the formed fabric corners and facing ends to the pocket bag from the wrong side.
- Place the second of the pocket bag right side in onto the attached pocket bag, stitch along the side edges and overlock the seam allowances; from the right side (for the more experienced - from the wrong side) stitch a securing line along the top and edges of the pocket opening, attaching the pocket bag.
- Create pleats on the patch pocket according to the markings, press and stitch decorative lines 3 mm from the folds.
- Fold the patch pocket pieces with the facing pieces right sides together, stitch along the outer edges, turn out, press and stitch a decorative line 5 mm.
- Press the open edges of the pocket inwards, place on the front according to the markings and stitch along the edge.
- Fold the pocket flap pieces right sides together, stitch along the outer edges, turn out, press and stitch a decorative line 5 mm.
- Place the flap, turned downwards, on the right side of the front according to the markings and baste to the upper edge of the front.
- Stitch the corresponding yoke to the front, attaching the flap, overlock the seam allowances, press towards the yoke and stitch a decorative line 5 mm.
- Fold the back yoke pieces right sides together, insert the back between them, aligning the edges, and stitch; turn out, press and stitch a decorative line 5 mm.
- Similarly, stitch the shoulder seams.
- Stitch the side seam, overlock the seam allowances.
- Stitch the back and front pieces of the lining fabric along the side and shoulder seams, stitch the lining to the facings.
- Press the seam allowances of the front closure to the wrong side, baste the zipper so that the teeth are visible.
- Place the facings, connected to the lining, onto the main garment right side in and stitch the fronts, attaching the zipper; turn out and press; stitch a decorative line 5 mm.
- Baste together the edges of the neckline, armholes and lower edges of the main garment and lining pieces.
- Create a "collar with a stand" - Reinforce one piece of the stand and collar with fusible interfacing.
- Fold both collar pieces right sides together and stitch along the outer contour; turn to the right side, press and stitch a decorative line 5 mm.
- Fold both stand pieces right sides together, insert the collar between the upper edges according to the markings, placing the reinforced stand piece on the reinforced collar piece, and stitch, continuing the stitch along the projections for the closure.
- Straighten the collar, press the open edges of the stand inwards, insert the neckline between them and stitch along the edge, continuing the decorative stitch along the upper seam of the stand.
- Stitch the sleeve seam up to the slit mark, overlock and press the seam allowances towards the upper of the sleeve, below the slit, press the seam allowances open and topstitch along the edge onto the sleeve.
- Set the sleeve into the armhole, aligning the notches, overlock the seam allowances, press towards the armhole and stitch a decorative line 5 mm.
- Create pleats at the bottom of the sleeve according to the markings, press and baste along the edges.
- Fold the cuff pieces right sides together, stitch the short edges and turn out.
- Place the cuff with the reinforced piece onto the lower edge of the sleeve right sides together and stitch; straighten the cuff, press the open edge inwards and topstitch onto the main garment along the previous seam, continuing the decorative stitch 5 mm around the entire perimeter of the cuff.
- Place the waistband onto the lower edge of the jacket right sides together and stitch; turn out and straighten the waistband, press the open edge of the waistband inwards and stitch horizontal lines for the elastic tape according to the markings.
- Insert pieces of elastic tape into the created casings, secure them with vertical stitches according to the markings.
- Topstitch the open edge of the waistband onto the main garment, continuing the decorative stitch 5 mm around the entire perimeter of the waistband.
- Fold the belt loop piece in half lengthwise right side in, stitch along the long edges, turn out, press and stitch decorative lines along the edges; cut the piece
