Sewing Instructions

  1. On the Front and Back, fold and press the darts: on the Front press the dart allowances towards the shoulder seam, on the Back towards the center. Stitch the darts. Topstitch the darts for 2.5 cm from the neckline, 0.1 cm from the seam. Baste the darts in place at the neckline edge.
  2. Stitch the shoulder seams. Press the seam allowances towards the Back and overlock them.
  3. Set the Sleeves into the open armholes (before the side seams are sewn). Overlock the seam allowances and press them towards the Sleeve. Topstitch along the sleeve cap 0.5 cm from the seam. Stitch the sleeve seam and side seam in one pass. Overlock the allowances and press them towards the Back.
  4. Fold each Cuff right sides together and stitch the short edges. Turn out, straighten, fold the Cuff lengthwise in half and press. Stitch the outer edge of the Cuff to the lower edge of the Sleeve. Turn under the inner edge of the Cuff by 1 cm and stitch it down over the attachment seam. Topstitch along the seam and along the fold of the Cuff.
  5. Hem band: stitch the side edges of the Front Facings and the Back Facings together, making two bands (outer and inner). Press the seams open. Place the bands right sides together and stitch along the lower edge and the front edges. Turn out, straighten and press. Stitch the outer band to the lower edges of the Front and Back. Turn under the open edge of the inner band by 1 cm and stitch it down over the attachment seam. Topstitch along the seam and along the edge of the band.
  6. Neckline and front band: place the two Center Front Facings right sides together and stitch along the outer neckline edge and the two short ends. Turn out, straighten and press. Stitch the outer layer to the neckline and front opening edges. Turn under the edge of the inner layer by 1 cm and stitch it down over the attachment seam. Topstitch around the band.
  7. Make the buttonholes on the right front and sew the buttons on the left front.
