Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch darts on the upper BACK PANEL of the main fabric pieces. Press darts towards the center seam. Attach the upper SIDE PANELS of the BACK to the upper BACK PANEL. Press the seam towards the center back and overcast.
  2. On the lower SIDE PANEL of the BACK, between the NOTCHES, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Attach the lower SIDE PANEL of the BACK to the lower main BACK PANEL, aligning the NOTCHES. Press the seam towards the center back and overcast. Attach the lower BACK PANEL to the upper BACK PANEL, press SEAM ALLOWANCES downwards and overcast.
  3. On the left lower BACK PANEL, along the vertical slit edge, trim 5 cm. On both lower BACK PANEL pieces, on the wrong side, interface the slit. On the right side, mark the center seam line (slit fold line). Press the left part along the slit fold line; on the right part, press only the SEAM ALLOWANCE of the right side of the slit (6 cm) to the wrong side. Align the pieces along the center seam and secure at the upper edge of the slit. Overcast the center back edge separately on each piece, simultaneously overcasting the slit. Stitch the center back edge from the ZIPPER NOTCH to the edge of the slit. Clip the corner of the slit SEAM ALLOWANCE on the right part. Press the center seam SEAM ALLOWANCES open, press the slit SEAM ALLOWANCES and secure them with machine stitching. Insert the ZIPPER from the upper edge to the NOTCH.
  4. On the upper FRONT PANEL, fold and press the darts. Dart depths are directed towards the armhole. Stitch darts from the apex for 3 cm. On the wrong side, along the inner edge of the dart, stitch 0.5 cm from the fold. Secure the darts at the neckline edge. Stitch shoulder seams. Press seams towards the BACK and overcast.
  5. Stitch darts on the BACK and FRONT PANEL of the LINING pieces. Press darts: on the BACK – towards the center back, on the FRONT PANEL – towards the armhole. Stitch shoulder seams on the LINING pieces. Press seams towards the BACK. Overcast the center and lower edges of the BACK LINING.
  6. Place the main fabric pieces with the LINING right sides together, aligning the neckline edges. Before reaching 5 mm from the edges of the concealed fastening, fold back the LINING and pin it to the upper edge of the dress. On the right side of the dress, fold back the SEAM ALLOWANCES along the ZIPPER and pin them to the neckline edge over the LINING. Stitch the neckline edge and the wrap of the FRONT PANEL. Clip the seam at the curves, turn the pieces right side out and press. Fold the SEAM ALLOWANCES along the fastening to the wrong side. Attach the BACK LINING to the ZIPPER tape and to the seam joining it with the lower part. Press the pieces. The upper FRONT PANEL pieces are then treated as single-layer.
  7. Attach the upper SIDE PANELS of the FRONT to the upper main FRONT PANEL. Press the seam towards the center front and overcast. On the lower SIDE PANEL of the FRONT, between the NOTCHES, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Attach the lower SIDE PANEL of the FRONT to the lower main FRONT PANEL, aligning the NOTCHES. Press the seam towards the center front and overcast.
  8. Overlap the right upper FRONT PANEL over the left and attach to the lower FRONT PANEL, aligning the NOTCHES. Press the seam downwards and overcast.
  9. Stitch side seams, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK and overcast.
  10. Stitch the SLEEVE edge. Press the seam and overcast. Set the SLEEVES into the armhole, aligning the NOTCHES. Press the seam and overcast.
  11. Press the hem allowance of the dress and SLEEVE hem to the wrong side, fold inwards another 1 cm and topstitch.
