Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the necessary pieces.
  2. Place bow pieces right sides together and stitch around the perimeter, leaving an opening for turning in the middle of the top or bottom edge (which will be hidden under the strap). Trim SEAM ALLOWANCES at corners, turn the bow right side out, press, and stitch the opening closed.
  3. Stitch the longitudinal edges of the strap, press SEAM ALLOWANCES open, centering the seam on the piece. Topstitch the upper edge of the strap to the outer FRONT FACING, fold the strap down, and attach the lower edge of the strap to the lower edge of the outer FACING.
  4. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the upper SEAM ALLOWANCE of the pocket. Serge the side and bottom edges. Press the upper pocket SEAM ALLOWANCE to the wrong side by 1 cm, fold to the right side along the fold line, and stitch the corners. Turn the SEAM ALLOWANCE to the wrong side, press, simultaneously pressing the side and bottom SEAM ALLOWANCES. Stitch a topstitch along the fold. Topstitch pockets to the FRONT PANEL according to markings.
  5. Stitch the FRONT FACING to the FRONT PANEL, catching the strap, clip SEAM ALLOWANCES, and press towards the FACING.
  6. Serge the center back edge. Stitch the center back edge from the mark downwards. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES open, simultaneously pressing the slit.
  7. Stitch the BACK FACINGS to the BACK PANEL, clip SEAM ALLOWANCES, and press towards the FACING.
  8. Stitch the side and shoulder edges, press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK PANEL and serge.
  9. Stitch the inner BACK FACINGS and FRONT FACINGS together, press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Place the FACING with the garment right sides together and stitch the neckline edge and the closure SEAM ALLOWANCE. Clip SEAM ALLOWANCES on curves, trim at corners, turn the FACING out, and press. Fold the lower SEAM ALLOWANCE of the inner FACING inwards and topstitch into the seam of the outer FACING attachment.
  10. Form pleats on the SLEEVE pieces (inner pleat folds directed away from the center). Stitch, press, and serge the SLEEVE edges. Fold CUFFS in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Unfold CUFFS and stitch into a loop. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Fold CUFFS along the fold line and stitch the outer side to the lower edge of the SLEEVE. Press SEAM ALLOWANCE towards the CUFF. Fold the raw edge of the inner CUFF inwards and topstitch into the seam of the outer CUFF attachment.
  11. Set SLEEVES into armholes. Press and serge SEAM ALLOWANCES.
  12. Press the hem of the garment to the wrong side by 1 cm, then another 1 cm, and topstitch.
  13. On the BACK FACING, make buttonholes and sew on buttons. Insert bows into the strap, securing them with a few stitches.
