Ruffled Neck Peplum Blouse with Tie Sleeves

Pattern #5856
Tech. Description

CUTTER'S MUST

  • From velvet:
    1. BACK PANEL – 1 QTY
    2. FRONT PANEL – 1 QTY
    3. SLEEVE – 2 QTY
  • From crepe chiffon:
    1. Upper FLOUNCE – 1 QTY (parameters indicated on the FRONT PANEL pattern)
    2. Lower FLOUNCE – 1 QTY (parameters indicated on the FRONT PANEL pattern)

When cutting, pay attention to the nap direction. It should be directed upwards, strictly on all pieces. To avoid crushing the nap, SEAM ALLOWANCES should be pressed either on a piece of the same velvet or on a thick terry towel from the wrong side.

Tip: Cut pieces from elastic fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim SEAM ALLOWANCES to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly with a 3- or 4-thread overlock.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Press the upper FLOUNCE in half lengthwise, right side out. Create even pleats so that the length of the lower edge matches the length of the front neckline.
  2. Press the front neckline allowance to the wrong side. Place the upper FLOUNCE underneath so that the raw edges align and topstitch.
  3. Turn the back neckline allowance to the wrong side and topstitch.
  4. Stitch the shoulder seams.
  5. Along the upper edge of the SLEEVE, stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather. Finish the bottom of the SLEEVE with BIAS BINDING. Set the SLEEVE into the open armhole.
  6. Stitch the side seams and SLEEVE seams in one continuous seam.
  7. Finish the lower edge of the lower FLOUNCE with a narrow rolled hem. Stitch the lower FLOUNCE into a ring. Create even pleats on the FLOUNCE so that the length of the upper edge matches the length of the lower edge of the blouson.
  8. Press the lower edge allowance of the blouson to the wrong side. Place the lower FLOUNCE underneath so that the raw edges align and topstitch.
  9. From BIAS BINDING, create two bows and sew them to the SLEEVES.
