Tech. Description

V-Neck Blouse with Gathered Neckline and Blouson Sleeves

A women's pull-on blouse in sheer fabric with a V-neckline gathered onto a decorative tape, long full set-in sleeves and elastic in the hem and sleeve hems, so the body blouses over the hip band. Three pattern pieces, no fastenings.

When To Wear

  • With jeans, trousers or a pencil skirt for daytime wear.
  • In spring and summer, over a camisole when the fabric is sheer.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Loose body drawn in by elastic at the hem, giving a blouson effect.

Length: Hip length.

Neckline: V-neck gathered on the front and back; the seam allowance is turned in and topstitched onto a decorative tape that stays visible as the edge trim.

Sleeves: Long, full set-in sleeves with an eased cap, gathered at the wrist by elastic in a turned-up channel.

Front: One piece, no closure; the blouse pulls on over the head.

Back: One piece, gathered at the neckline.

Waist: Hem turned up into a channel with elastic threaded through.

Finishing: Shoulder and side seams overlocked and pressed towards the back.

Level Of Difficulty

Beginner. Three pieces, elastic channels and a gathered neckline stitched to tape; the only care point is handling sheer fabric.

Fabric Recommendations

Sheer blouse fabric of natural or blended fibres: silk, viscose, polyester.

  • Elastic for the hem and sleeve hems
  • Decorative tape for the neckline

Turn the neckline seam allowance to the inside, place it on the tape and topstitch. Stitch the left shoulder seam. Overlock the seam and press it towards the back. Stitch the side seams. Overlock the seams and press them towards the back.
  2. Stitch the sleeve seams. Overlock the seams and press. Set in the sleeves, easing the sleeve cap.
  3. Overlock the hem of the blouse and the sleeve hems, turn them to the inside and topstitch, leaving an opening for the elastic. Thread the elastic through the hem of the blouse and the sleeve hems.
