Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to the FRONT FACING pieces, the BACK NECK FACING, and the upper COLLAR stand.
  2. Place the COLLAR stand pieces right sides together and stitch along three sides. Trim SEAM ALLOWANCES at the corners, turn the COLLAR stand right side out, and press.
  3. Stitch the shoulder seams. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES open.
  4. Attach the SLEEVES to the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the SLEEVE.
  5. Stitch the shoulder seams of the FRONT FACINGS and the BACK NECK FACING. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Stitch the LINING pieces together, leaving an opening in the right front SLEEVE seam for subsequent turning. Attach the LINING to the FRONT FACINGS and the neck FACING. Place the FRONT FACINGS with the LINING right sides together with the cape, insert the prepared COLLAR stand between them, and stitch all around the edge, neckline, and bottom. Clip SEAM ALLOWANCES at curves, trim corners, turn the cape right side out, baste, and press. Close the technical opening. Topstitch along the edge of the front opening and the COLLAR stand.
  6. Cut two rectangles 4x9 cm from the main fabric. Fuse them with FUSIBLE INTERFACING, overcast the perimeter. Place them right side down onto the markings for the slits and stitch along the markings (the cape is already fully finished with LINING and is stitched through all layers). Cut the fabric between the stitching lines as for a welt pocket. Make diagonal cuts 1-1.5 cm from the short sides. Turn the FACING to the wrong side through the opening, straighten the edges. Topstitch along the edge of the resulting opening.
  7. On the right FRONT PANEL, overcast buttonholes; on the left FRONT PANEL, sew on buttons.
