Tech. Description

Long Sleeve Twisted Yoke Top

A fitted, hip-length women's top in double-faced stretch knit with long set-in sleeves and a front yoke twisted once at the centre front, with a small keyhole opening below the twist.

When To Wear

  • In autumn and winter with trousers, jeans or a skirt.
  • Under a jacket or cardigan, where the twisted yoke stays visible.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Close-fitting with shaped side seams.

Neckline: Wide front neckline formed by the yoke; round back neckline. The neckline edges are overlocked, turned to the wrong side and topstitched.

Front: A one-piece front yoke is sewn to the back at the right shoulder, twisted once and then sewn at the left shoulder, so the twist sits at the centre front. The yoke is joined to the front only from a notch to the armhole on each side; between the notches the front edge is turned and topstitched, leaving the keyhole under the twist.

Sleeves: Long, set-in, with one underarm seam.

Back: One piece, no centre seam.

Finishing: Shoulder and side seams pressed towards the back. Hems of body and sleeves turned up and topstitched with a twin needle.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Twisting the yoke before closing the second shoulder seam, clipping allowances at the notches and finishing the keyhole edges, set-in sleeves in knit fabric.

Fabric Recommendations

Double-faced knit with medium to high stretch, from natural or blended fibres: both sides show at the twist. Seams are sewn with a stretch or narrow zigzag stitch.

Additional Supplies

  • None besides fabric and thread.

From main fabric:

  • Back – 1 piece
