Tech. Description

Long Sleeve Round Neck Cold Shoulder Top

A women's fitted knit top with a scoop neckline and long set-in sleeves that leave the top of the shoulder open: the sleeve cap is cut straight across and is sewn into the armhole only below a notch.

When To Wear

  • With jeans or trousers for everyday and casual evening wear.
  • In spring and autumn, when long sleeves are needed but an open shoulder is still comfortable.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted, hip length.

Neckline: Round scoop at the front, shallower at the back; the edge is turned to the wrong side and topstitched.

Sleeves: Long, set-in, with a straight upper edge on the cap that is turned under and topstitched. The upper part of the front and back armholes, above the notch, is turned in and topstitched too, so the shoulder stays open between bodice and sleeve.

Back: One piece, no centre back seam.

Finishing: Hem, sleeve hems and neckline turned to the wrong side and topstitched; a twin needle on the hems keeps the stretch.

Level Of Difficulty

Beginner. Three pattern pieces. The only extra step is clipping the armhole at the notch and finishing the open part of the armhole and the sleeve cap before setting in the sleeves.

Fabric Recommendations

Knit fabric with medium to high stretch, from natural or blended fibres.

Additional Supplies

  • None besides fabric and thread.
