Maternity Drawstring Pants with Contoured Front Waistband

Cutting Plan

• From main fabric:
• 1. Front half – 2 pieces
• 2. Back half – 2 pieces
• 3. Front facing – 2 pieces
• 4. Back facing – 2 pieces

Fabric & Materials

FROM FUSIBLE INTERFACING: back facing.

Sewing Instructions

1. Fuse interfacing to the back facing and the buttonhole area on the front facing.
2. Stitch and serge/overlock the side seams of the trousers. Press the side seam towards the back half of the trousers.
3. Serge/overlock the front and back crotch seams of the trouser halves and the bottom edge of the trousers. Stitch and serge/overlock the inseams. Press the inseams towards the back half of the trousers. Stitch the front and back crotch seams. Stitch a second line along the seat seam next to the stitching of the front and back crotch seam for reinforcement.
4. Mark the buttonhole positions on the upper front facing and make the buttonholes.
5. Stitch the side edges of the front and back facings, press the seams open. Attach the facings to the upper edge of the trousers and press the attachment seam towards the facings.
6. Serge/overlock the outer edge of the lower facings. Place the facings right sides together with the attached facings and stitch the upper edge. Understitch the seam allowance to the lower facings at a distance of 0.2 cm from the seam. Topstitch the serged edge of the lower facing into the attachment seam of the upper facing and press.
7. Press the hem allowance to the wrong side and topstitch.
8. Thread a decorative cord through the buttonholes and attach cord ends.
