8. Bow Center (marked on pattern as "Strap" – 1 piece

From Lining Fabric:

1. Middle – 2 pieces
2. Side – 2 pieces
3. Seam Facing – 1 piece

From Fusible Interfacing:

All interfacing pieces are cut using the corresponding main pattern pieces.

1. Middle – 2 pieces
2. Side – 2 pieces
3. Front Brim – 2 pieces
4. Back Brim – 2 pieces

Important Information

Before cutting your fabric:

• Print and lay out pattern pieces to determine yardage.
• Check mirrored pieces, notches, and grainlines.
• For patterned fabrics, align carefully for symmetry.

Assembly Instructions

1. Fuse interfacing to the Middle Parts, Side Parts, Front Brim, and Back Brim pieces.

2. Stitch the Middle Parts right sides together and topstitch the seam.

Stitch the Side Parts to the Middle Part and topstitch the seams.

3. Stitch the lining Middle and Side Parts in the same sequence as the outer crown pieces; press seams open.

Place the lining inside the crown, matching seam lines, and baste together in several places.

4. Stitch the side seams of the Front Brim and Back Brim.

Trim the interfacing close to the seam line, then press the seams open until they lie completely flat.

5. Place the Front and Back Brim pieces right sides together and stitch around the outer edge.

Trim the interfacing at the seam.

Turn the brim right side out, shape the edge neatly, and press.

Topstitch the brim with parallel rows of stitching.

Trim and true the inner edge.

6. Place the crown and the brim right sides together and stitch, evenly distributing any ease.

Finish the joining seam with the Seam Facing cut from lining fabric.

7. Decorative Band:

Place the Trimming Band right sides together and stitch.

Turn the band right side out, straighten the seam, and press.

Shape the band into a gentle curved form.

8. Bow and Decorative Band Assembly:

Stitch the Bow Loops and Bow Ties, shaping the ends as marked.

Turn all bow pieces right side out and press.

Wrap the Trimming Band around the crown, stitch the ends together at the back, and secure it along its length with small hand stitches.

Assemble the bow using the two Bow Loops, two Bow Ties, and the Bow Center (marked on the pattern as “Strap”), following the sketch.

Sew the finished bow to the hat, ensuring that all stitches remain invisible on the right side.
