Classic Fur Pillbox Hat

Sewing Instructions

1. Place FUSIBLE INTERFACING pieces onto the corresponding main fabric pieces on the leather side and sew with quilting stitches. Start quilting on the wall 1 cm from the top edge, working downwards, with stitching lines 2 cm apart. When doing this, only catch part of the leather and gently pull the thread.
2. Fold the ends of the wall right sides together and sew them with frequent overcasting stitches. Flatten the seam with a hammer. Overlap the ends of the interfacing and sew.
3. Fold one edge of the TRIM STRIP for the wall top FACING by 0.5 cm to the wrong side, fold the TRIM STRIP and the top of the wall right sides together, and sew with frequent overcasting stitches, similar to the fur pieces. The bottom of the wall is processed similarly.
4. Fold the edge of the hat to the wrong side and sew to the interfacing; the seam should run along the FACING 0.5 cm from the joining seam. Fold the bottom edge of the main wall and sew it to the interfacing.
5. Sew the bottom FACING in the same way as to the wall, slightly easing it. Insert the bottom into the wall, align, and baste from the inside. Sew the wall top FACING and bottom FACING with frequent stitches from the inside. Sew the FACINGs to the wall interfacing.
6. Stitch the LINING wall. Press the seam open until it lies flat. Attach the bottom to the wall. Insert the LINING into the hat, align. Fold the LINING inwards and sew with frequent blind stitches. The LINING should be sewn to the BIAS BINDING 0.3 cm from the seam.
