Wrap Blouse with Waist Sash

A women's fitted wrap blouse ending just below the waist, with a stand collar, sash ties sewn to both fronts and two-piece set-in sleeves ending in shaped ties at the wrist. All free edges are bound with bias binding.

When To Wear

  • With high-waisted trousers or skirts for the office.
  • Spring and summer evenings, with a pencil skirt or wide-leg trousers.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted, shaped by darts on the fronts and princess seams on the back.

Length: Just below the waist; lower edge of the fronts and back bound with bias binding.

Collar: Stand collar with an interfaced upper collar, set into the neckline; the under collar is turned under and topstitched over the seam. The wrapped front edges form a V below the stand.

Front: Separate right and left fronts crossing over each other, each with a dart; the front edges bound with bias binding.

Closure: Wrap closure with sash ties: a sash piece is sewn to each front, one passes through an opening in the left side seam (topstitched around), and the ties wrap the waist and knot at the front.

Sleeves: Long, two-piece (front and back sleeve), set in with ease at the cap; the lower edge opens into a slit with shaped ties on both sleeve pieces, bound with bias binding.

Back: Centre back seam and princess seams from the armholes, pressed towards the centre.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Long continuous bias-bound edges on fine fabric, a stand collar, an opening in the side seam for the sash and two-piece sleeves with tie ends.

Fabric Recommendations

Fine silk and viscose fabrics.
