When To Wear

  • In spring and summer with straight trousers or a pencil skirt.
  • Under a jacket for the office, with the flounce worn over the lapels.
  • For dinners and daytime celebrations.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Straight, semi-fitted body shaped by bust darts from the side seams.

Length: Hip length, with a straight hem turned up and topstitched.

Sleeves: Long, one-piece set-in sleeves with an eased cap; a flared flounce is stitched to the lower edge of each sleeve.

Closure: Centre front opening with five buttons and buttonholes, buttonholes on the right front.

Back: One piece with no centre back seam and no darts.

Finishing: Interfaced front facings joined to a back neck facing, tacked to the shoulder seams with a 1 cm tack. Flounce outer edges overlocked, turned under and topstitched.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Flounces sewn in between the garment and the facings, set-in sleeves with eased caps, buttonholes and narrow hems on chiffon.
