When To Wear

As everyday underwear in cotton jersey.
As a matching set made in two colours of the same jersey.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Brief with a mid-rise waist and legs cut high at the side.

Front: One piece cut on the fold, no centre seam.

Back: One piece cut on the fold, joined to the gusset by a crosswise seam.

Gusset: Two layers cut on the fold. The back is stitched between them; the lower layer is stitched to the front and the upper layer is turned under and slip-stitched to the front by hand, so no seams show inside.

Waist: Contrast waistband sewn into a ring, stitched to the upper edge, wrapped to the inside and topstitched from the right side in the attachment seam.

Finishing: Leg openings bound the same way with contrast strips sewn into rings.

Cutter's Must

From main fabric:

Front - 1 piece on fold
Back - 1 piece on fold
Gusset - 2 pieces on fold

From trim strip:

Waistband - 1 piece
Crotch facing - 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

Place gussets right sides together, inserting the back half of the panties between them and stitch. Place the front with the lower gusset right sides together and stitch. On the upper gusset, fold under the seam allowances and sew with blind stitches to the front.
Stitch the crotch FACINGs into rings, place them with the panties right sides together and attach. Fold the facing to the wrong side, enclosing the edge, fold under the seam allowances and topstitch from the right side into the attachment seam of the facing.
Stitch the waistband into a ring. Place it with the upper edge of the panties right sides together and attach. Fold the waistband to the wrong side, enclosing the edge, fold under the seam allowances and topstitch from the right side into the attachment seam of the waistband.
