Tech. Description

Faux Fur Peplum Vest

A women's sleeveless fur vest with princess seams, a waist seam joining a peplum, a V-neck collar with a scalloped edge and a three-button front. Fully lined.

When To Wear

  • Over a blouse, fine knit or long-sleeved dress in autumn and winter.
  • As a warm extra layer with trousers or a straight skirt.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted bodice shaped by princess seams from the armhole, with a slightly flared peplum below a waist seam.

Length: Hip length.

Collar: Two-layer collar with a centre back seam and a scalloped outer edge, framing a V-neckline; under collar set into the fur neckline, upper collar into the lining neckline.

Sleeves: Sleeveless; armholes finished by the lining.

Closure: Three buttons, buttonholes on the right front; the peplum is open below the closure.

Back: Centre back panel and back peplum cut on the fold, with side back panels.

Lining: Full lining cut from the same pieces, with a back neck facing; fur and lining stitched together along all outer edges and armholes, lining shoulder seams slipstitched by hand.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Cutting fur in a single layer with a blade, bagging out a lined vest through the shoulders, and setting a two-layer collar.

Fabric Recommendations

Natural or faux fur. Cut in a single layer, wrong side up, with the pile running the same way on all pieces; cut only the backing with a scalpel or razor blade.

Additional Supplies

  • Matching lining fabric
  • Fusible interfacing (centre front lining pieces)
  • 3 buttons
  • Scalpel or razor blade for cutting the fur

Cutter's Must

Attention! Lay the fur in a single layer, wrong side up. The pile must run in the same direction on all pieces. Cut with a scalpel or razor blade, cutting only the backing of the fur without damaging the pile.
