Reinforce front facings, back neck facing, and front panels with FUSIBLE INTERFACING.
Sewing Instructions
- Stitch darts on back and front panels, stitch center back seam.
- On front panels, create WELT POCKETS: On the wrong side of the front panel, press a strip of FUSIBLE INTERFACING approximately 4 cm wide over the pocket marking. Place the pocket FACING right sides together with the front panel, pin along the pocket opening marking, and stitch along the pocket marking. Cut the front panel along the center between the stitching lines, diagonally towards the ends of the stitching. Press SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Turn the FACING through the slit to the wrong side to form a neat frame, and baste. On the wrong side of the front panel, place the pocket bag on the lower FACING, directing the pocket bag upwards, and from the right side, stitch the lower FACING into the attaching seam, catching the pocket bag. Press the pocket bag downwards. On the wrong side of the front panel, place the second edge of the pocket bag on the pocket and from the right side, stitch into the attaching seam of the upper FACING. Turn the small triangles at the ends of the slit to the wrong side and stitch to the FACINGS precisely from the ends of the upper stitching to the ends of the lower stitching. Stitch the open edges of the pocket bags.
- Stitch shoulder and side seams.
- Stitch shoulder seams of front FACING and back neck FACING.
- Place front facings right sides together with front panels and pin to the edges of the fronts and neckline, finish the fronts with the front facings.
- Hem the bottom of the jacket.
- Complete SLEEVE seams. Set sleeves into jacket armholes, easing the sleeve cap.
- Attach shoulder pads.
- Stitch darts on back and front LINING, stitch cut pieces from LINING fabric. Attach LINING to the lower edges of the sleeves, inner edges of the front facings, and back neck FACING. Hem the LINING.
- On the right front panel, overcast a buttonhole; on the left front panel, sew on a button.
