A women's fitted knit dress, above the knee, with a centre front panel cut from a second fabric between two side front pieces, three-quarter set-in sleeves and a round neckline finished with a folded binding.
Silhouette: Fitted, close to the body, straight to the hem.
Length: Above the knee.
Neckline: Round, finished with a binding strip 4 cm wide, folded in half, stitched to the wrong side, turned to the right side and topstitched; bar tack at the shoulder seam.
Sleeves: Three-quarter length, set in flat into open armholes, then sewn up together with the side seams.
Front: Three panels: a centre front piece in the contrast fabric and two side front pieces joined by curved princess seams running from the armholes to the hem; seam allowances pressed towards the centre.
Back: One piece cut on the fold, with no seams.
Finishing: Seams sewn with a stretch or narrow zigzag stitch and serged; hems of the dress and sleeves turned up 1.5 cm and topstitched with a twin needle.
Beginner. Few pieces and no closure; the main points are sewing knit fabric with stretch stitches, matching the princess seams and applying the neckline binding.
Medium-stretch knit fabric of natural or blended fibres, in two contrasting or related colours: one for the centre front panel, the other for the side fronts, back and sleeves.
If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, the patterns are without seam allowances. Seam allowances: hem allowance for the garment bottom and sleeve hem – 1.5 cm, other seams 1 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity.
